Tony Rice Bluegrass Guitar T-shirts

Tony Rice has risen to unequivocal fame over his professional life in the Bluegrass genre of guitar playing. His clean and rapid flatpicking is matched only by his guitar's incredible tone. Tony acquired his treasured C.F. Martin D-28 guitar (serial number 58957) in 1975 for around $550. During the 1960’s the guitar was the personal instrument of one of Tony's main influences, famed guitarist Clarence White of the Kentucky Colonels and The Byrds. The guitar has an enlarged soundhole that affects its sound. The guitar's tone, among other features, makes it unique from any other guitar in the world. Tony has played in such bands as J.D. Crowe and The New South, featured alongside Norman Blake and David Grisman (The David Grisman Quintet), and has many of his own successful albums with the Tony Rice Unit. He is one of the most accomplished guitarists still preforming Bluegrass today.

This Tee was originally a woodcut - a relief printing artistic technique in which an image is carved into the surface of a block of wood, with the printing parts remaining level with the surface while the non-printing parts are removed, typically with gouges. The areas to show the background are cut away with a knife or chisel, leaving the characters or image to show in the ink at the original surface level. The woodcut or linocut (using modern linoleum instead of wood) surface is then covered with ink by rolling over the surface with an ink-covered roller (brayer), leaving ink upon the flat surface but not in the non-printing areas. It is considered a craftwork done only by dedicated artists in this day and age. Each of our woodcut designed tshirts are also available as prints on quality paper. Please Inquire.
